ThinkAg Scholarship

Grade 12 students and recent high school graduates (within the past two years) in Saskatchewan who are planning to take agriculture-related post-secondary education beginning in the fall of 2017 are eligible to apply. We are looking for young people who thinkAG and plan to pursue an exciting career in the industry. Eligible applicants can attend any post-secondary institution that provides agriculture-related studies.
Note: Ministry of Agriculture and Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation employees and their immediate family members are not eligible.

How do I apply?

Applicants must complete the Application Form and:

  • Produce a creative three-minute video or write a well-researched 1,000 word essay sharing their food story.
  • Provide proof of acceptance to a post-secondary institution; and, 
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher, agriculture industry or community leader.

Canadian Mennonite University Scholarship Deadline

The deadline to apply for scholarships is February 28. Students must have applied to university and been conditionally accepted before they are eligible to apply for scholarships.

CMU has a variety of scholarships and bursaries for students. Some are based on financial need, others are awarded for academic achievement, and some reward leadership or personal achievements. 

U of Calgary Admission and Scholarship Deadlines

Students interested in UCalgary undergraduate programs need to apply by Wednesday, March 1, 2017. We recommend directing students to our how to apply page for more details.

Also remind students to complete our online high school awards application to be considered for entrance awards and bursaries

UBC Application Update

Although UBC's application deadline has passed, some programs are still accepting applications. Remaining program applications may close at any time without notice, so please encourage your students to submit their applications as soon as possible. 
Here are some important updates to keep in mind as we proceed through admissions season. 

Uploading interim grade information

We will send an email to UBC applicants asking them to upload:
  • Their most recent report card or transcript
  •  A list of courses in progress
The deadline to upload these documents is March 15. Our Admissions Blog shares tips and tricks on uploading documents
These documents allow us to proceed with our evaluation for admissions. 

UBC Summer Program Deadline

UBC offers high school students the opportunity to experience the university setting on the Vancouver campus with two-week summer programs: Future Global Leaders and Experience University Life

The deadline to apply for Canadian students is April 30, and the deadline for international students is June 30.  

Conexus Community Youth Leadership Award

Deadline: April 14, 2017

Conexus will be offering 30 - $500 Community Youth Leadership Awards across the province.  The award is presented to a graduating high school student who demonstrates co-operative spirit, community involvement, and leadership. Our goal is to promote the benefits of being a Conexus Credit Union member and to recognize the contributions made to their school and community.

The intent of the award is to recognize an individual at the time of graduation from high school for their contributions made to school life and community and to reward youth who exhibit leadership skills.

Dental Hygiene at SaskPolytech

Dental Hygiene has now been approved as a three-year Advanced Diploma program, starting with the September 2017 intake. The application process will remain the same. Further changes to the program  page, including courses, are upcoming, and tuition and fees will be updated later this spring.

SKILLS WORK! Young Women's Conference
This conference provides networking opportunities to young women in grades 9 - 12 that are interested in careers in trades and technologies.  The session includes meeting women currently working in trades and technology careers, tours of competition areas and an engneering activity called "Junkyard Wars".
The conference will be held on April 7, 2017 in Saskatoon and runs from 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

U of S Competitive Entrance Scholarships

Deadline: March 1
Valued up to $32,000, Competitive Entrance Awards may be offered based on:
  • academic achievement,
  • financial need, and/or
  • contributions to school and community life.
These awards also recognize particular backgrounds, acknowledge contributions to certain clubs, and reward achievement in music or athletics.

Canadian Association of Principals 2016-17 Leadership Award

Deadline: March 1
The Canadian Association of Principals are proud to sponsor the CAP Student Leadership Award. The purpose of this award is to afford principals the opportunity to recognize one of their student leaders and to enter that student as a nominee for a national scholarship. Nationally, the Canadian Association of Principals will administer the scholarship program.
The CAP Student Leadership Award is designed to provide the broadest possible base upon which to evaluate candidates. For the 2016-2017 program, twelve scholarships of $250.00 each will be awarded. (One scholarship per CAP provincial/territorial affiliate) Only students graduating in the final year of high school from a Canadian High School are eligible for nomination.
Each school that wishes to participate in the scholarship program is asked to nominate one student leader who has demonstrated outstanding leadership. Nominees should be in the top 20% of their class. Nominations are not based on need. The method of selection of the principal’s nominee is a local decision. To assist you with your selection, you may use an existing scholarship committee or convene a committee similar to what may be used for other award programs.
Each nominee must complete the questionnaire following the instructions in this form (click to download). Advisors should aid students in filling out the questionnaire and in furnishing and verifying entries that are part of the student’s official school records.
We emphasize that all materials must be submitted togetherand postmarked by March 1, 2017. Incomplete materials will not be returned or considered.
Winners of the CAP Student Leadership Award will be selected in May and the winners and their school principals will be notified in June.

Pulse Growers Scholarships

Deadline: Friday, May 5

Eligibility
 Student or student’s parent(s) must be registered Saskatchewan pulse growers (i.e. they have sold Saskatchewan-grown pulses in the last two years)
 Student must not be an immediate family member of current SPG staff or Directors
 Student must have a minimum average of 70% on five subject high school average
 Student must be accepted as a full-time student this fall in a Saskatchewan-based, post-secondary program that is associated with the pulse industry or agriculture (example: agriculture, natural sciences, engineering, nutrition)

Selection Criteria
• Student must have an interest in pursuing a career related to agriculture and the pulse industry
• Student must have a history of demonstrated leadership
• Student must have made contributions to school and community life

U of Regina Events

Regina Admission on the Spot: We will be once again be hosting an Admission on the Spot event on February 16 at the University of Regina from 3:30-7:30 PM. Students who submit their unofficial transcripts with an application at the event will receive a discounted ($70) application fee and a free pair of limited edition U of R mittens! 
The Faculty of Education will also be offering a TEAP Application Workshop at 4:30 PM this same evening. Details available online.
Grade 11 University Preview: Our second annual Grade 11 event is coming up quick! On February 24th, students will be able to explore what university is and different areas of study. The event is free of charge and registration is now open HERE!

Access Communications Scholarship

 Access Communications will be accepting the applications, reviewing and choosing the top applicants throughout the province.

The Access Communications Scholarship will be awarding $1,000 to 20 graduating students who demonstrate exemplary community involvement.

SaskTel Indigenous Youth Awards of Excellence

These awards recognize youth achievement in 10 categories including:
Outstanding achievement
Leadership
Education
Community service
Innovation
You can nominate any youth if they are:
  • of First Nations, Metis, or Inuit ancestry
  • Between 14 and 18 years of age by May 26, 2017
  • A resident of Saskatchewan and a registered student
  • Able to demonstrate outstanding commitment and/or ability in one of the 10 award categories
  • No group nominations will be accepted
  • Mandatory attendance is required if nominated

Anyone can nominate a youth except parents of the nominees. Each nomination must be supported by two references from a community leader, educator, or elder who is not related to the youth. Please note that a youth can only be nominated in one category.

Deadline to apply is approaching

The fall may seem like a long way away, but the deadline for your students to apply to most programs is coming up.
February 15 is the last day to submit the online application and application fee to be considered for admission to:

is the deadline for your students to submit their Term 1 transcript (or mid-term grades for full-year courses) and any other documents required by our Admissions office.

Also, remember that if a student receives an offer of admission, they have until the deadline stated in their offer to accept it through PAWS.

2017 Discovery Days

Aboriginal Student Discovery Day - Friday, April 21, 2017

The University of Alberta invites Aboriginal students in grades 10, 11, and 12 to take part in a one-day UAlberta experience at our North Campus. During Aboriginal Student Discovery Day attendees will have the opportunity to: learn about University of Alberta undergraduate programs, housing, awards, and services; connect with faculty and service representatives; meet new people from other high schools and Aboriginal communities, and; win great prizes including UAlberta apparel and more. Rural Discovery Day - Friday, May 5, 2017

Rural Discovery Day is a day-long event that introduces students from rural communities and their family members to the University of Alberta in person. UAlberta Day Trip - Friday, March 24, 2017

The University of Alberta invites Grade 11 students studying Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and other enriched curriculum programs from the Calgary area to visit North Campus for the day. Students will learn more about the University of Alberta, residences, faculties, and other opportunities available on campus. We are pleased to offer complimentary shuttle service for students and their guest from Calgary to Edmonton and return via Red Arrow's ebus.
