6th Annual Try-A-Trade at Northwest Regional College

University of Saskatchewan Open House

Open House 2016: Registration is open

Students, parents and counsellors are all invited to sign up online to attend the University of Saskatchewan's annual Open House on Friday, September 30.

Students are required to register in advance for up to three of the many sessions taking place throughout the day and spaces are limited. Popular sessions include 'What is Engineering?' which is part of Open House this year, campus tours and admissions workshops.

In addition, a full day of programming will be provided to school counsellors and student services staff, as well as parents, who can also register by clicking HERE..

University of Alberta: Open House and Campus Visits

Open House - Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 9am-4pm at the Butterdome in Edmonton.

Prospective students, and their parents can join over 7,500 guests who will visit campus on this day to explore over 200 programs, connect with faculties and services, tour campus and residences, and attend presentations. Students can plan their day in advance by signing up for Campus and Residence Tours by clicking HERE.

Signing up for a Campus Visit can be done HERE. New this year they are offering General Advising Sessions to prospective students. These can be added to any tour or booked as a standalone appointment.

University of Guelph: National Scholarships

Students with an outstanding academic record, who have made significant contributions to their schools and their communities, who have demonstrated innovative and unique approaches to implementing change and/or bringing about improvements to life, and who demonstrate the greatest potential to be future leaders are invited to apply
You are eligible to apply if you:
  1. Are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada;
  2. Are entering the first semester of any degree program at the University of Guelph or the University of Guelph-Humber;
  3. Have not previously attended a post-secondary institution;
  4. Have at least a 90% admission average;
  5. Have made significant leadership contributions to your school and/or community.

Great Plains College offers a variety of Entrance Awards, ranging from $500 to $5000. These include Early Entrance Awards of $1000 each for grade 11 students.

Join us in Biggar to learn about the Electrician, Practical Nursing and Continuing Care Assistant programs.
January 28, 2017 - Kindersley Campus
Spend the day learning about the Power Engineering program and all it has to offer in the classroom and beyond.

Open Houses

Great Plains College also offers Information Night & Open Houses to learn about local programs, scholarship opportunities and financial aid. Student advisers and staff members will be available to answer questions and assist with the application process.

Horatio Alger Canadian Scholarship Program

Scholarships of up to $10,000 are awarded to full-time students in their last year of high school with financial need (family income under $65,000) who have demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, a commitment to pursue a post-secondary education, a desire to contribute to society, and a good academic record.

Loran Scholars

Students who are dedicated to serving others, show promise of leadership and have integrity, courage, compassion, grit and a high level of personal autonomy. Awards include:
Renewable for up to four years, with a total value of $100,000, each Loran Award includes:
An annual stipend of $10,000
  • A matching tuition waiver from one of 25 partner universities
  • Personal mentorship from a Canadian leader
  • Access to our network and up to $10,000 in funding for summer internships in three different sectors
  • An orientation expedition through Algonquin Park
  • Annual retreats and scholar gatherings
There are also 90 finalist and provincial awards to promising candidates who are not selected as Loran Scholars.

Grade 12 students may apply now at apply.loranscholar.ca. They may also view the application overview and a sample application form. As in previous years, they will need to submit a transcript, request a reference from a teacher or community member and have their school sponsorship confirmed (if applicable) before the deadline.

October 19th is the deadline for school-sponsored applications, and each high school may sponsor up to three students. Additional students may submit direct pool applications (without sponsorship) by October 26th.
