Program Changes at the University of Saskatchewan

Direct Entry Education Program:

Students proceeding from high school to university may now apply for direct entry admission to uSask's elementary/middle years and secondary education programs.

The sequential option (non-direct entry) for upper year students will still be
available as the college transitions to the direct entry model.

New Programs:

Applications and Scholarships for the University of Saskatchewan

Prospective students will be able to apply for admission for the 2016-2017 academic year starting on Oct. 2. Applying early is encouraged as Dec. 1 is the early admission deadline for
  • Edwards School of Business 
  • Engineering
  • Kinesiology
Dec. 1 is also the deadline to apply for admission to be eligible to apply for uSask's Best and Brightest Entrance Scholarships. Scholarship applications are due on Dec. 15.

University of Saskatchewan's Open House

Friday, October 2

Students, parents and counsellors are all invited to sign up online to attend the University of Saskatchewan's annual Open House.

Students are required to register to attend the various sessions taking place throughout the day and spaces are limited. Signing up early is encouraged for the best selection of sessions. 

In addition, a full day of programming will be provided to school counsellors and student services staff, as well as parents.

WorkSafe Contest 2016

Deadline: Friday, March 18, 2016
WorkSafe Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) invite high school students to create a 2-minute video to tell their friends about workplace health and safety. You must use the theme ‘It’s your job’.

RE/MAX of Western Canada Quest for Excellence Bursary Program

RE/MAX of Western Canada has renewed the Quest for Excellence bursary program. This year we are once again offering (16) $1,000 bursaries for a total of $16,000 to grade 12 students.


This program was established by RE/MAX of Western Canada to recognize the success and ongoing pursuits of Western Canadian students in regards to leadership and community contribution initiatives.

University of Toronto National Book Award and Scholarship Program

Deadline: November 6, 2015

National Book Award:
The University of Toronto National Book Award Program recognizes and rewards students who demonstrate superior academic performance, original and creative thought, and exceptional achievement in a broad context: academic pursuits, intellectual exploration and involvement in the lives of their schools and communities. It is not necessary that the student intend to apply for admission to the University of Toronto.
National Scholarship Program

Students who have been nominated by their schools as National Book Award recipients may submit applications to the National Scholarship Program. In addition, students who identify themselves as meeting the scholarship criteria are invited to apply directly for the National Scholarship, without having been nominated for the Book Award.

Horatio Alger Canada Scholarship Program

Deadline: October 25

Scholarships of up to $10,000 are awarded to full-time students in their terminal year of high school with financial need (family income under $55,000) who have demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, a commitment to pursue a post-secondary education, a desire to contribute to society, and a good academic record. -

Business and Beyond Competition

Registration Deadline: October 30
Event Date: Wednesday, November 25

Saskatchewan Polytechnic's School of Business is excited to bring back the third annual Business and Beyond competition to be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.
The competition is open to high school students in grade 11 and 12.  Gather a team of four and prepare to have a day filled with fun.  The competitors will rotate their way through the business specialties and compete in mini challenges in each.  The top four teams will compete in a final competition in the Panther's Lair.  The winners receive prizes and tuition credits to a Sask Polytech Business program.
Participants and guests can get an even closer look at the programs by visiting the Trade Fair. Current students, faculty and staff will be available to answer all your questions.
Participating programs include:  Accountancy, Financial Services, Human Resources, Insurance, Management and Marketing.  To learn more about these programs please visit Business Diploma.

Loran Scholars for 2016

Loran Scholars are young people who deeply value integrity and honesty. They are curious by nature, and are interested in a wide range of subjects. Furthermore, they are willing to take meaningful risks and prioritize results over appearances. Each one has shown a sustained commitment to service in the community, has taken the initiative to create positive changes and is interested in working for a better world.

The Loran Award is valued at up to $100,000 over four years, including one-on-one mentorship and a summer program. We will also grant 40 provincial awards ($2,000 each) and 40 finalist awards ($3,000 each) to top students. Find out more about our university awards.
