Registered Nursing Program at Swift current

The University of Regina is now accepting applications for the Saskatchewan Collaborative
Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the Swift Current Campus. The deadline to apply is
Feb. 17, 2015. Eight students per year will be accepted. Preference is given to applicants that
reside within the Cypress Health Region.
 To Apply: Download an application form at www.sasknursingdegree.ca. Students must
also complete a Great Plains College University application form.
 Prerequisite change: Chemistry 20 is no longer accepted. Students are required to
have Chemistry 30.

Important Parent Survey

What is Engineering?

Grade 12 students and high school counsellors are invited to participate in 2014 What is Engineering to learn more about the engineering profession and about engineering education in Saskatchewan.

Practicing professional engineers, university professors and administrators, and current university students will be on hand to provide an overview of what engineering is, what engineers do, and to talk about the exceptional educational opportunities and programs offered in Saskatchewan.

Agriculture Student Scholarship

Deadline: March 1, 2015

Amount - $4000 - first place; $200 for 4 runners up

Students in grade 12 and recent graduates entering agriculture-related post-secondary studies in 2016 are encouraged to apply. Applicants are required to produce a three minute creative video or write a well-research fact-based 1000 word essay that showcases the agriculture industry.

Shad Valley

Deadline: Apply between November 26 and December 11, 2014

SHAD is a registered Canadian charity whose mission is to empower exceptional high school students who will become future leaders.

 Each year, SHAD provides the opportunity for more than 600 students from across Canada and internationally to attend a month-long summer program, in-residence at one of 12 Canadian host universities. Programming is centred around science, technology, engineering & math. 

The selection process is competitive and is based on strong academics, leadership, creativity, volunteerism. Athleticism, artistic or musical abilities are also considered.

Suspended Admission for Home Economics and Industrial Arts Education Programs at U of S

For a period of one year (2015-16), the College of Education has suspended admission to the direct-entry Practical and Applied Arts (PAA) programs in Home Economics and Industrial Arts.

The College is exploring modes of delivery that will update the PAA curriculum and increase connections with community-based contexts in ways that will also advance education opportunities for people interested in PAA teacher education.

TD Scholarships for Community Leadership

Deadline: November 28, 2014

Twenty TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are awarded to students in their last year of high school in Canada who have demonstrated leadership in improving their community. Each scholarship has a value of up to $70,000 and includes:
  • Up to $10,000 for tuition per year (for up to a maximum of four years)
  • $7,500 a year for living expenses (for up to a maximum of four years)
