Our Lady of the Prairies Scholarship

Deadline - April 27 - 


This scholarship is donated by the Our Lady of the Prairies Foundation and is open to students in the Living Sky School Division. Selection for this scholarship include Academic Standing, Community Involvement and Extracurricular activities. Students must submit an application form, portfolio and two letters of reference to their guidance counsellor to apply for this award.

Lakeland College Information Sessions


Lakeland College is hosting information session in North Battleford on Wednesday, March 28, from 6pm – 8:30pm at the Don Ross Community Centre, so any students interested in Lakeland who would like more information are invited to attend.

Lethbridge College Entrance Awards

In celebration of achieving 50 years of excellence in 2008, Lethbridge College awards 50 - $1000 scholarships to students entering post-secondary college programs every fall! Valerie Whalley Education Foundation Fund

Deadline: May 1


The purpose of this Scholarship Fund is to provide financial assistance to individuals pursuing a post-secondary education, who have been adversely affected by the death of a family member, through the actions of an impaired driver. The Guidelines and Criteria section specifies impairment as either alcohol or drug related, and defines who qualifies as a family member.
Each scholarship shall be for a minimum of $2,5oo.oo to a maximum of $15,000.00 yearly. Applicants must apply annually and may be eligible to receive a scholarship for a maximum of three individual years. Applicants must qualify to be eligible to receive funds from this scholarship, see the Guidelines and Criteria for requirements.
Attention will be given to applicants who are not receiving financial support from other sources.
Applicants who are actively volunteering in charitable activities or associations will be given special consideration.

UR Gap Year Program

The UR Gap Year is a new program for current high school students planning on taking a year off between high school and coming to the University of Regina.  By indicating that they would like to be a part of the UR Gap Year Program, the students' admission as well as any automatic entrance scholarships funded by the University of Regina that they were offered will be deferred for a year.  

During this year, students will be able to take advantage of many services to help them stay connected with the university and prepare them for their first year of study or future career options, including the opportunity to ear credit towards the UR Guarantee Program.

Students must apply to the University of Regina and will be given the option to join the Gap Year Program once they are granted admission.

March 15, 2012 deadline to apply for University of Regina Entrance Awards.All of the entrance awards have been consolidated on one application available here.
March 15: Priority application deadline for all direct entry undergraduate programs. The priority deadline is the recommended deadline to ensure best course selection and opportunities for enrolment and other university services such as scholarships, residence and parking.

This is also the deadline for high school students applying to the Faculty of Education.

May 1
: Deadline to apply for residence for a guaranteed room
May 1:  Our start application date for student electrified parking for the fall/winter semesters - very important for students who are going to be living in our residences.  
August 1: Final deadline for all programs (excluding Education and Nursing). If a program still has space available, it may be extended beyond this deadline. Extensions will be posted on the futurestudent Web site.

Experience a day in the life of a music student. Sit in on music classes, attend a student recital, have a private lesson with a faculty member, and learn about the application/audition process for Music and Music Education programs at U of R.

Visual Arts Portfolio Review Dates Set: March 9 & March 28
Students applying for selection to the BFA Visual Arts Major may make an appointment with the Department of Visual Arts for a portfolio review and interview beginning February 1st. 2012. (306) 585-5572.
The attached document outlines the process for the review and how to make other arrangements if the dates above or travel to Regina are not possible.
Note: All students interested in Visual Arts should apply to the BA Visual Arts major. Students interested in the BFA for September entry must make an appointment as noted above and will be advised of their acceptance after the review.

Alberta Colege of Art and Design Application Deadline Extension


Due to the a number of requests from teachers and counselors to accept late applications, ACAD will be accepting applications for the Fall 2012 semester until Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 11:59pm. Students must submit both their application and portfolio by this date to be considered for the Fall 2012 semester.

Nursing Deadline Extension at U of Alberta

The Faculty of Nursing, University of Alberta, has extended their application deadline for Fall 2012 to May 1, 2012. Students wishing to apply to any of the Nursing programs at the University of Alberta can now do so until May 1.

New Community Planning Program at U of Alberta

Starting fall 2012, the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Science at the University of Alberta will offer degrees in Planning.
 
Planners work with government officials to build and implement strategies that help them achieve their goals and vision. Local issues like the downtown arena or the LRT expansion are all projects in the hands of Planners. They will offer a:
  • BA (major in Planning) with a broad focus on urban and regional planning
  • BSc Specialization Planning with a focus on environmental planning and the use of computer technologies in planning.

CEFPI Gerry McCudden Memorial Scholarship Award

Value: $950.00

The CEFPI Saskatchewan Chapter Gerry McCudden Scholarship is a competitive, merit-based scholarship program designed for graduating grade twelve students who desire financial support for their pursuit of post-secondary educational opportunities.

Qualifications - Students must submit an essay (see below) as well as evidence that all criteria listed below have been met:
1.The candidate shall be a graduating grade twelve student.
2..The candidate shall have an academic average of 80% or higher in their grade twelve year.
3.The candidate shall have leadership potential as measured by leadership roles in school or community activities, or by creatively and vision demonstrated through participation in school or community activities.
4.The candidate will submit an essay on the required Essay Subject: “There has been increasing evidence that the design and condition of an educational facility has a significant impact on the quality of education and a student’s ability to learn. In 500 words or less, please describe how your high school facility has contributed to the quality of your education. Also, please describe the changes to your high school facility that you would propose, which you feel once implemented, would improve the quality of education.”
5.The candidate must be accepted into a post-secondary educational program following their grade twelve graduation, (i.e.: university, technical school, community college, etc.)

This bursary is awarded by the Oddfellow and Rebekahs of Saskatchewan to a student who is deemed most worthy and in need of financial assistance. The award must be used in the year in which is it granted.

Projects Abroad

The goal of this program is to provide students with the opportunity to live and work in developing countries in a way that is both convenient and safe for the students and positive for the countries, themselves.

Projects Abroad sends volunteers ages 16 and up to 27 countries to do over 150 different unpaid internships and service projects.  Volunteers can go for as little as 2 weeks per year and up to a year.

Saskatchewan Cooperative Youth Program

Saskatchewan Co-operative Youth Program, also known as Co-op Camp, has been leading Co-operative Youth Education in the province for over 80 years. Co-op Camp is a series of 8 camps throughout July and August where youth ages 12 to 18 from all across Saskatchewan come together to meet new people, develop leadership skills, learn more about co-operatives and have a great time. All activities are participatory and interactive in nature and challenge participants to work together to solve challenges. There is also swimming, canoeing, volleyball, campfires, and other recreational activities. Camps are held at Candle Lake and Last Mountain Lake.
The Saskatchewan Co-operative Youth Program contributes to the personal development of youth and encourages their active involvement in community and co-operative organizations. The uniqueness of the Program stems from its ability to provide a co-operative, participatory learning experience for young people, co-op staff and volunteers, within a positive, enjoyable environment.

Bullying Canada Scholarship

BullyingCanada, Canada's National Anti-Bullying Charity is now accepting applications for the organizations Scholarship Program. The scholarship is open to students in their final year of high school who have worked to end bullying in their schools and communities to aid them with their post-secondary education. The first round has 3 $100.00 scholarships, with more to follow in the months to come.
