Sask. Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program

Deadline: February 15, 2012

Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing (SCBScN) program applications for the fall 2012 intake are now being accepted. The application deadline is February 15, 2012. A competitive admission process will be used for new applicants, based on the University of Regina early conditional admission process:

Previous applicants, who met the final admission requirements for the 2011 intake but were not offered a seat, will be invited to re-apply for admission by October 31, 2011. There is no application fee to re-apply.

Design Competition

Deadline: March 30

The 17th Annual Sears Canadian High School Design Competition is now underway. Participants can enter projects in the areas of industrial design, fashion design, architecture and interior design as well as graphic design.

TD Discovery Day in Health Sciences

Thursday, November 10

Aboriginal students are invited to attend this event hosted by the University of Saskatchewan which will feature a keynote lecture, two hands-on workshops and an interactive discussion with medical and health care professionals.

Every Saskatchewan school can register students who have a strong interest in health science and who are highly committec to attending the event.

Lakeland College Open House(s)

October 29 and 29, 2011
Both campuses, Lloydminster and Vermilion will be hosting Open House events on both of these days from 9am to 4pm. Participants can tour classrooms, apply for programs (with a waiver of the usual $75 application fee) and enter to win a $1000 scholarship.

In addition to the open house, there will be a Career Fair at the Vermilion Campus on October 28, running from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

University of Saskatchewan: Experience US Event

This year, the University of Saskatchewan is inviting high school students to attend an annual Experience US Open House on either October 13 or 14. Information about this event and an online regisration form can be found by clicking here. Experience US will include a campus tours, program information, activities and games to win prizes. Communities in Bloom Foundation Scholarships

Deadline: September 30 2011 Bursaries: · Two (2) bursaries of $1,000/each will be awarded to eligible successful individuals for the 2011/2012 school year; · The 2011 bursaries will be awarded by November 2011. Eligibility: · Applicants must be registered in, and successfully complete, a full-time post secondary level pertaining to ornamental and/or environmental horticulture programs in an accredited institution; · Applicants must be involved in a community participating in the Communities in Bloom program (national or provincial editions); · Successful recipients must agree to have their name and education information publicized throughout the Communities in Bloom network and public (website, magazine, et cetera). Voter's Choice 4Kids Contest

Submission Deadline: September 29-October 21, 2011 Prize: $5000 to be split between winners and the school of choice This contest is open to students in Canadian high school who create and submit a 30 second - 5 minute YouTube video that is educational and/or promotes positive behaviours regarding drugs and alcohol. ACAD Open House and Portfolio Days

Friday October 21 and Saturday, October 22 Saturday, January 14 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. This is an opportunity for students who are interested in applying to the Alberta College of Art and Design to attend an information session, tour the facility and have their portfolios reviewed by faculty. Do the Math 2011

The Canadian Mathematical Society, in partnership with the University of Toronto and Université Laval, is pleased to announce the 2011 Sun Life Financial Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (COMC), taking place on Wednesday, November 2. The COMC is Canada’s premier national mathematics competition that is open to any student with an interest in mathematics. The competition is now in its 16th year. The COMC is designed to encourage students to explore, discover, and learn more about mathematics, and to develop analytical and problem solving skills that will be essential to their future careers. This year there will be an expanded awards program, a new prize program, and a three section exam format encompassing regular, intermediate and advanced problems. The COMC is the main qualifier for the Sun Life Financial Canadian Mathematical Olympiad (CMO). Top scoring students will receive an invitation to write the CMO, an advanced competition written only by expressly invited students. Registration In order for students to write the COMC, their school must register for the competition. Loran Awards

October 19 Deadline The Loran Award is open to every graduating high school or cegep student from coast-to-coast-to-coast. Renewable for up to four years, it includes an annual tuition waiver and a stipend of $8,000, access to funding and internships through our summer program, invitations to annual gatherings and forums, and mentorship opportunities. The award is tenable at any of our partner universities. Eligibility Criteria Be in the graduating year of uninterrupted full-time studies in high school or CEGEP. Exceptions may be considered for those who have undertaken a gap year for academic pursuits or community service-based activities. Present a minimum cumulative average of 85% Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status Selection Criteria Character, service and leadership are the selection criteria for Loran Awards. Loran scholars are people of strong moral character who have demonstrated academic excellence and potential as leaders. They are curious by nature, interested in a wide range of subjects and willing to take meaningful risks. They prioritize results over appearances and value integrity and honesty. Work2Live Video Contest

WorkSafe Saskatchewan is raising awareness about on-the-job safety by hosting a Youth Safety Video Contest for students in grade 9 through 12. You can find contest rules, regulations and applications packages here or here.

Careers in Aviation Information Session

Registration deadline: October 7 The Saskatchewan Aviation Council is hosting this information session on October 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Saskatoon Inn. Students who are interested in becoming pilots, aircraft maintenance engineers, air traffic controllers, customer service specialists, flight attendants or any other aviation related occupations are invited to attend. Sessions include a tour of the SIAST/SIIT training hangar at the Saskatoon Airport. Contact your guidance counsellor for registration information.
