RBC Aboriginal Student Awards Program

Application Window: December 1 to February 28

RBC awards 10 scholarships in two categories:

- For students majoring in disciplines related to the financial services industry
- For students majoring in disciplines unrelated to the financial services industry
(We also consider scholarship recipients who are interested in careers in financial services for summer and post-graduate employment.)

You are eligible to apply to the RBC Aboriginal Student Awards Program if you are a Status Indian*, a Non-status Indian, Inuit or Métis and meet these criteria:
- You are a permanent resident or citizen of Canada
- You have been accepted to or are currently attending an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada
- You maintain a full course load that leads to a recognized degree, certificate or diploma
- You have two to four years remaining in your current academic program
- You require financial assistance to pursue your education
If you are already receiving partial funding from other sources, you may still apply to the RBC Aboriginal Student Awards Program to cover additional educational and living expenses.

House of Commons Page Program

Deadline: January 7, 2011

Each year, 40 bilingual students from across Canada are chosen to come and live the action on Parliament Hill by assisting Members of Parliament and other House Officials with their work. Students studying in the National Capital Region are eligible to apply.

Youth Video Contest

Deadline: April 15

Students in grades 9-12 are invited to create a 3-minute video with a work safe message and submit it for a chance to win cash prizes for themselves and for their schools, ranging from $300 to $1500.

TD Canada Trust Scholarships for Community Leadership

Deadline: October 31

The TD Scholarship for Community Leadership rewards students who have shown leadership in many areas including environmental cleanup, the promotion of social justice, and the fight against child poverty, to name just a few.

Your outstanding and consistent concerns for the improvement of your community, could make you eligible for a scholarship to cover the cost of your post-secondary education.

You may have found a new way to solve a community problem working within an existing group or organization; you may have started something brand new. Either way, we are eager to hear from you.

Each scholarship is valued at up to $70,000 and includes -

Up to $10,000 for tuition per year
$7,500 a year toward living expenses
Plus -

An offer of paid summer employment
Mentorship Opportunities
Invitations to annual gatherings, networking opportunities and events
Who is eligible?
TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are intended to serve the needs of all Canadian families and communities.

Scholarships are open to students across Canada who -

Are in their final year of high school, or CEGEP (in Quebec)
Have demonstrated outstanding community leadership
Obtain a minimum overall average in their most recently completed full year of school of 75%
Doing good for others during difficult times in one's own life requires particularly outstanding commitment. This is why, as part of the selection process, the personal circumstances and/or challenges of each applicant will be considered.

High School Design Competition

Design Exchange is proud to announce the 16th Annual Sears Canadian High School Design Competition. The aim of the competition is to promote the study and awareness of various design disciplines in schools across Canada. The competition is open to all high school students, at the junior (grades 10 and below) and senior (grades 11 and above) levels. Prizes will be awarded at the two levels, in each of the four categories – Industrial Design - Task Light, Fashion Design - Reclaimed T-Shirt, Architecture / Interior Design - Refueling Station, and Graphic Design - 2011.

TD Discovery Day in Health Sciences

The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame and the University of Saskatchewan are hosting Discovery Day, an opportunity for students to discover and explore careers in medicine and health sciences. Students will attend a presentation and then participate in two workshops and an interactive discussion with a panel of medical and health care professionals.

National Video Competition

Deadline: December 31, 2010

The Racism. Stop It! National Video Competition is looking for youth between the ages of 10 and 20 years old to create a 45 to 60 second video sharing thoughts on eliminating racism. Work in a team of up to five people for a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to Canada's Capital region in March 2011, along with a prize package.

The school or organization that sponsors your winning videos will receive a digital camcorder.
