SAT Information Session at North West Regional College

Monday, October 4 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

North West Regional College in North Battleford will be hosting a SAT information session. Participants will be provided with information about the registration process, exam dates, preparation, online assistance, study skills and exam writing strategies.

Event: What is Engineering?

Grade 12 students who are interested in a career in engineering are invited to attend this event, hosted by the colleges of engineering at the University of Regina and University of Saskatchewan, as well as the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan. The purpose of this day is to provide information on the engineering profession, as well as the two colleges of engineering.

SIAST is once again hosting CSI (Come, See, Investigate) events at the four campuses this fall.

Loran Awards: Canadian Merit Scholarships

Deadlines: October 20 (Sponsored Applicants) or October 27 (Direct Pool Applicants)
These awards range in amounts from $2000 to $75000.

Eligibility Criteria
•Be in the graduating year of uninterrupted full-time studies in high school or CEGEP. Exceptions may be considered for those who have undertaken a gap year for academic pursuits or community service-based activities.
•Present a minimum cumulative average of 85%
•Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status
Selection Criteria

Character, service and leadership are the selection criteria for Loran Awards. Loran scholars are people of strong moral character who have demonstrated academic excellence and potential as leaders. They are curious by nature, interested in a wide range of subjects and willing to take meaningful risks. They prioritize results over appearances and value integrity and honesty. Though they study diverse subjects, and go on to work in a variety of fields, they share a common commitment to their university and larger communities.

University of Ottawa - Online Opportunities

The University of Ottawa has the following online services for prospective students:

1. Online viewbook - students can go online here and order a Viewbook that is created according to their personal interests

2. Online Chat - prospective students can chat online with members of the U of Ottawa student ambassador team. Chat lines are open from 5:45-9:00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, from mid-October to mid-May. Look for the chat button here.

3. Virtual Tour - provides students with an opportunity to see the campus and familiarize themselves with facilities. Access tours here.

University of Alberta Open House

The annual University of Alberta Open House will include an opportunity to:

Lakeland College Bursaries for Aboriginal Students

Up to 20 new student bursaries (each $5000/year or $2500/semester) will be awarded to Indian, Inuit and Metis students enrolled full-timein their first year of selected programs in Business, Heavy Oil Operations Technology, Environmental Sciences and a variety of trades programs.

To be eligible, students must have a 70 percent high school average, must demonstrate financial need, and have previous community leadership or volunteer experience.

Tri-West Teachers' Association Scholarships

Deadline: September 30

Level One Scholarships - Three scholarships of $750 based on the highest average in ELA 30A and B, a 30 level Social Science, and four electives at the 20 or 30 level.

Level Two Scholarships - Two scholarships of $750. Candidates must be registered at a university in Saskatchewan or Alberta with proof of acceptance into a College of Education.

Candidates must be nominated by a member of the Tri-West Teachers' Association. Application forms are available from your STF representative.
