SIAST Campus Tours and C.S.I. (Come, See, Investigate)

Campus tours of SIAST are open to parents, teachers and students. These tours take place on pre-determined dates at each of the four SIAST campuses (Kelsey in Saskatoon, Woodlands in P.A., Palliser in Moose Jaw and Wascana in Regina). C.S.I. (Come, See, Investigate) - These events are open to students in grades 11 and 12, as well as high school graduates. They allow attendees to get an in-depth look at a specific program and become familiar with the student life, campus atmosphere, financial aid, admission requirements and the application process.

These experiences include hands-on activities, a look at job prospects in the various fields and an opportunity to talk to current SIAST students about their programs.

SARM Scholarship in Ag Safety and Rural Health

Deadline: February 5

This $1000 scholarship will be awarded to the student who submits the best farm safety essay accompanied by a completed application form. Applicants must be enrolled in Grade 12 for the 2009-10 school year, planning on studying at a post-secondary Saskatchewan school in the fall of 2010 (or studying out of province if the courses are not offered in this province)and must have completed the last two years of high school in Saskatchewan. Furthermore, applicants must have a farming background and live in a rural area and have parents/guardians who own/rent land and pay taxes to a rural municipality.

Saskatchewan PE Association Scholarships

Deadline: June 30

The Saskatchewan Physical Education Association (SPEA) is now accepting applications for its annual scholarships. Two awards of $700.00 will be presented annually to high school graduates who are entering specified programs. For criteria and application procedures, click the title link above.

Mathieu Da Costa Challenge

Deadline February 20 - The Mathieu Da Cost Challenge is an annual writing and artwork contest that is open to youth between the ages of 9 and 18. The challenge encourages young Canadians to learn about the contributions that Canadians of different backgrounds have made in building our country.

In addition to this challenge, students submitting artowrk or writing celebrating the contribution by a National Historic Person of Aboriginal, African or other background to the building of Canada will be eligible for another prize - -the Mathieu Da Cost Parks Canada Award.

Lethbridge College Student for a Day Program

Grade 12 students interested in Lethbridge College programs can attend a Student for a Day program during the months of February/March and spend a day in the program of their choice, meet with faculty and shadow a student in all of their classes.

Project Hero Program at SIAST

SIAST has become the first Saskatchewan post-secondary institution to sign on with a Project Hero scholarship program that waives tuition and provides $1500 for books and supplies for children of soldiers killed in the line of duty, since 2002 while serving overseas in an active mission.

Applicants must have completed at least one grade of high school in Saskatchewan and meet the academic merit for entrance and have a minimum average of 65% from the first year for renewal.

Healthy Lifestyles Scholarship

Deadline: May 1

This scholarship is for students under 25 years of age who are in high school or first year of post-secondary studies. Applicants must respond to two essay questions.

Orange Benevolent Society of Saskatchewan

The following scholarship is for students who have already completed at least one semester of post-secondary study. However, pass this on or keep it on file for future reference!

Applicants must be eligible to enroll in and attend a course at an approved Institution with a full course of study. Scholarship amounts will be determined dependant on applications received and amounts available. Recipients will be selected on academic achievement, financial need and for those young adults with a plan and dedication for self-improvement as expressed in the required essay. Mature students are encouraged to apply. Applications must be received at head office by July 31 or December 31 annually. These will be reviewed by our board of directors and those awarded scholarships shall receive their awards prior to October 1, and February 1 of each year. A copy of enrollment approval and/or transcripts from the Institution must be received by OBS prior to awards being released.

The University Writing Scholarship (UWS) is a program available to both undergraduate university/college students and high school seniors and juniors across North America. St. John Ambulance Bursaries

These scholarships are for active members in good standing with St. John Ambulance
demonstrate academic achievement, leadership qualities, a commitment to high standards in their chosen careers and a dedication to upholding the ideals of the Order of St. John and to continue to serve their community through St. John Ambulance.

St. John Ambulance’s Bursaries and Scholarships are ONLY available to volunteers who are members of St. John Ambulance Community Services programs.

Society of Exploration Geophysicists

Deadline: March 1

A student must intend to pursue a college curriculum directed toward a career in applied geophysics or a closely related field, such as geosciences, physics, geology, or earth and environmental sciences.
A student must meet one of the following requirements:
(a) Attending high school and planning to enter college next fall;
(b) An undergraduate or graduate college student whose grades are above average.
Certain scholarships administered by the SEG Foundation may impose additional eligibility requirements, as set forth by the sponsors of those awards.

Saskatchewan School Boards Association Scholarship

Application Deadline: August 31

Each year the Saskatchewan School Boards Association awards two $1,000.00 scholarships to graduating high school students who remain in Saskatchewan in post-secondary study:

University Scholarship: $1000 for a student entering university in Saskatchewan.

Applied Science and Technology Scholarship: $1000 for a student entering a recognized institute of applied science and technology in Saskatchewan.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of demonstrated good character, community leadership, financial need, and a 500-word essay.

RBC Royal Bank Scholarships Awards

Deadline February 16

You must be:

A Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
Students who are in their graduating year of High School or CEGEP Students who will be enrolled full-time in a publicly funded Canadian university or college in the Fall 2010 academic term
Undergraduate students enrolled full-time in a publicly funded Canadian university or college in the 2009/2010 academic year.
Minimum cumulative GPA equivalent to a 70% average
You need to be enrolled as a full-time student
Employees, directors, and officers of Royal Bank and its subsidiaries and its scholarship administration agencies and those with whom they are domiciled are not eligible for the RBC Royal Bank Scholarship for Undergraduates.

RBC Aboriginal Student Awards

Deadline: February 28

RBC awards 10 scholarships in two categories:

For students majoring in disciplines related to the financial services industry
For students majoring in disciplines unrelated to the financial services industry
They also consider scholarship recipients who are interested in careers in financial services for summer and post-graduate employment.

You are eligible to apply to the RBC Aboriginal Student Awards Program if you are a Status Indian*, a Non-status Indian, Inuit or Métis and meet these criteria:

You are a permanent resident or citizen of Canada
You have been accepted to or are currently attending an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada
You maintain a full course load that leads to a recognized degree, certificate or diploma
You have two to four years remaining in your current academic program
You require financial assistance to pursue your education
If you are already receiving partial funding from other sources, you may still apply to the RBC Aboriginal Student Awards Program to cover additional educational and living expenses.

Jack Moore Memorial Scholarships

This award is open to children, grandchildren or great grandchildren of veterans, ex-service or still serving military or RCMP personnel. They must be Saskatchewan residents but can be planning to attend out-of-province post-secondary schools. This award is based on academic achievement.

Evraz Inc. NA has two scholarships of $1,500 each to be awarded to students entering the University of Saskatchewan or the University of Regina in the faculties of Engineering, Commerce or Science.

Canadian Hard of Hearing Scholarship Program

Cal Callahan Memorial Bursary

Deadline: September 30

A bursary, or bursaries, not exceeding ten thousand ($10,000.00) in total is awarded, in the fall of each year, by the Pipe Line Contractors Association of Canada to a son, daughter, or legal ward of persons who derive their principal income from pipeline construction.

To qualify, the parent or guardian of the applicant must be employed by, or have a history of employment with, a firm who is a Member of the Pipe Line Contractors Association of Canada. Michael C. Sifton Memorial Scholarships

he Michael C. Sifton Memorial Scholarship Fund is presently accepting applications for Educational Scholarships. These scholarships, each worth approximately $1,000, may be awarded to people intending to further their educational development.

The following criteria will be considered in awarding these scholarships:

residency in Saskatchewan
acceptance at a recognized university or other post-secondary educational institution
priority will be given to students planning to study in Saskatchewan and to students residing in central and northern areas of Saskatchewan
personal need
interests, awards and achievements
career intentions
other financial assistance and awards received
you do not have to be a former carrier to apply

Miller Thomson Foundation Scholarship

Deadline: March 15

The Miller Thomson Foundation Scholarship encourages and promotes the attainment of higher education in Canada for individuals who have demonstrated a high level of academic achievement, have made a positive contribution to their school through involvement in extracurricular activities and have made significant contributions of time and energy to community service programmes.

The Miller Thomson Foundation National Scholarship Programme was established in 1995. As of June 2009, 2,350 scholarships totaling $2,350,000 have been awarded nationally.

ReMax Quest for Excellence

RE/MAX of Western Canada is pleased to offer Grade 12 students the opportunity to earn a $500 bursary to be used towards further education. Kin Canada Bursaries

Kin Canada Bursaries was established in 1994 by Kin Canada as a legacy to its Founder, Harold Allin Rogers, O.C., O.B.E. (1899-1994) and is funded by Kinsmen and Kinettes across Canada. The program was established to promote, encourage and sponsor educational programs and activities, by providing assistance to applicants in their quest for higher learning at a recognized post-secondary institution.
ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible you must:
1. Be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant
2. Plan to register as a full-time student, in 2010-2011 school year, at a recognized University, Community College, Technical Institute or other
post-secondary institution for advanced learning

Belinda Jones-Crews Memorial Scholarship Fund

This $1500 scholarship is awarded to a student registered in a post-secondary institution. Preference will be given to students involved with or pursuing the fields of medicine, veterinary sciences or law enforcement.

Explore Program 2010

Application Deadline: February 28

Students who are interested in discovering another region of Canada while learning French can enjoy this program, which offers five weeks of learning, adventure, friendship and discovery. Courses are offered in spring or early summer, with the option of taking a job for the rest of the summer. Participants receive a $2000 bursary which covers tuition, instructional materials, meals and accommodation. Some schools offer the possibility of transferring credits for the course you take.

A.E. Blakeney Bursary

Deadline: March 10, 2010

The $40 000 A.E. Blakeney Bursary for Post-Secondary Entrance Students is available to support an outstanding Saskatchewan students pursuing post-secondary studies. The successful recipient will be awarded $10 000 annually. Eligibility is based on financial need, high academic standing, Saskatchewan residency and full time entrance into a post-secondary program of at least four academic years at the University of Saskatchewan, University of Regina or First Nations University of Canada.

Great Questions Essay Contest

The Historica-Dominion Institute is challenging young Canadians across the country to express their views on some important issues facing Canadians today. Using the book Great Questions of Canada, students are asked to write an essay on one of the six Great Questions debate topics. The winning entry will receive a $2000 cash prize, have their essay published on the website and win a trip to Ottawa for the award ceremonies in 2010. Additional prizes will also be awarded for classrooms who participate!

Take part in the 2010 contest! Participants and educators are asked to read the contest rules prior to submitting an essay.
